PORTLAND — The Portland Symphony Orchestra’s 89th season will feature classical canons and contemporary works from around the world. The Tuesday and Sunday Classical Series audiences will be treated to the music of composers from the United States (Aaron Copland, Leonard Bernstein) to Europe (Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Beethoven, Dvorak and Tchaikovsky to name a few) and the PSO Pops! Series will feature music of popular artists from Cole Porter and George Gershwin to the Beatles.

The PSO season opens at the end of September and runs into June, with a total of 19 performances at Merrill Auditorium of the Tuesday Classical, Sunday Classical and PSO Pops! Series. In addition, 12 performances of the PSO’s Magic of Christmas will be held in December.

All performances are at Merrill Auditorium, 20 Myrtle Street.
