LIVERMORE FALLS — The RSU 73 board has changed the date of a teachers workshop so students will not have to attend an additional day of classes at the end of the school year.

Superintendent Robert Wall said the district has used six snow days, which is one more than planned. Therefore students will attend classes May 17, which was a teacher workshop day. Teachers will attend an in-service workshop June 17.

The last day of school for students will be June 14.

Graduation at Spruce Mountain High School in Livermore Falls will be June 8 and at Spruce Mountain High School in Jay on June 9.

At its meeting last week, the school board canceled its April 11 meeting and will hold a closed session for student disciplinary hearings instead. Another closed session for a student disciplinary hearing is set for April 4. Both begin at 6 p.m. in the Central Office.

Wall said the district has 10 days to make the results public.

Also at Thursday’s meeting, the board held two executive sessions, one to discuss negotiations with the teachers’ union and the other to discuss a personnel appointment.

No action was taken following the negotiations session.

After the personnel closed session, the board appointed Spruce Mountain Middle School physical education teacher Mike Methvin as varsity baseball coach for the middle school.

The next board meeting is at 6 p.m. April 25 at the Central Office.

On April 9 at 6 p.m. at the middle school in Jay district residents will act on a proposed $18,579,946 budget. A validation vote is set for April 23 in each town.
