AUBURN — Elsie (Hatch) Parker, formerly of West Poland, passed away peacefully at the Hospice House, April 1.

She was born in Lewiston, Dec. 20, 1915, the daughter of Fred and Grace (Adams) Hatch. After graduation from Edward Little High School, she trained and worked as a hair dresser.

On May 20, 1939, she married Leo G. Parker, who predeceased her on June 22, 1999 in Nashua, N.H., after having been together for more than 60 years.

Before her family moved from Auburn to Manchester, Conn., in 1956, she was an active member of the First Universalist Church of Auburn and after moving back to Maine, she returned to this church. When the family moved to Lowell, Mass., in 1960, she became a counselor at the Florence Crittenden League and later she became a teacher’s aide at the LARK School in Lowell.

Elsie was a dedicated homemaker who loved to cook, bake, garden, sew and knit and who adored animals, especially cats. She was an avid reader and loved her Boston sports teams.

Survivors: She was the devoted mother of Pamela Kennedy of North Attleboro, Mass., and Peter Parker of Windham; the loving grandmother of Shaun Kennedy and his wife, Elizabeth, of Franklin, Mass., Brian Kennedy of the Bronx, N.Y., Sandra Parker Barry and her husband, Craig, of Braintree, Mass., Steven Parker and his wife, Carmen, of Niceville, Fla., and Ryan Parker of Windham; she adored her two great-grandchildren, Michael and Bridget Kennedy of Franklin, Mass.; her niece, Betsy Whitcomb of Falmouth; in her later years, she had lived with her sister, Marion Emery of West Poland.

Everyone who was touched by her life remembers her as a loving, caring and very kind lady with a mischievous sense of humor.
