100 years ago, 1913
George C. Webber of Auburn, treasurer of the A.A.A. association, has had an offer for the lease of the ball grounds for the coming season. The fence on the park needs repairing and more money, possibly $150, will be needed to put the place in order for baseball. Unless funds are forthcoming, the grounds are likely to be let and this will shut out the school and factory teams that have used the grounds for several years.

50 years ago, 1963
Automobile inspection month, 1963, is only two days old and already Lewiston-Auburn car dealers and garage owners are on the go from morning to night, as a rash of early sticker-minded motorists flock to sticker stations for the little “green” tag. The consensus is that only those motorists who know their vehicles will pass were among the early birds. The new inspection sticker is green and measures about two inches square. Along with the changing of inspection responsibility to the State Police came new prices. The old fee of 50 cents for a sticker has now grown to one dollar.

25 years ago, 1988
For the first time since 1 1985 blaze destroyed the High Street Congregational Church, worshipers gathered for a community interfaith service to kick off the Easter season and commemorate Good Friday. With the smell of new paint lingering and construction scaffolding scattered in piles outside the rebuilt church, congregants sat on new pews. Sunday services immediately following the fire in 1985 were held in the church’s parking lot, then later moved to Temple Shalom on Bradman Street.
