JAY — A local woman was injured Monday morning when she lost control of the car she was driving and it went off Hyde Road and struck some trees, police officer Nicholas Gulliver said.

Florence Couture, 78, was heading home toward Franklin Road, also known as Route 133, when her car got into the soft shoulder, he said. She tried to get out of it, overcorrected and the car went off the right side of the road and hit trees on the driver’s side, Gulliver said.

Jay firefighters extricated her from the car.

Couture complained of neck and back injuries, he said. A NorthStar Emergency Medical Services crew transported her in an ambulance to Franklin Memorial Hospital in Farmington.

The 2008 Chevrolet Impala was destroyed, Gulliver said.

He was assisted at the scene of the 8:39 a.m. accident by Detective Richard Caton IV and Chief Larry White Sr.
