Cancer Tour to visit Portland
SOUTH PORTLAND — Last year’s Cancer Adventures Tour made stops in Oregon, Washington, Wyoming, Arizona, New Mexico, Vermont and Connecticut. This year, South Portland’s Cancer Community Center has been added to the popular tour schedule. Metastatic prostate cancer survivor, Gary Johnson, and his wife, Marlys, will share their cancer adventure stories with the public from 6 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 17, at the Cancer Community Center, 778 Main St., Route 1.
“Cancer is not anything we would ever wish on anyone else, but it has enhanced our marriage and family relationships. It’s caused us to rethink our priorities, make some healthier living choices, take more risks and create adventure,” said Marlys Johnson. “Victory for some may be a complete cure; for others, it might be living longer than expected. For us, victory represents living well with cancer even when there is no proven cure.”
