RUMFORD — The Rumford Comprehensive Plan Update Committee will conduct a public hearing on their proposal from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, April 25, at Rumford Falls Auditorium.

The purpose is to give the public an opportunity to learn about the plan update, ask questions and provide the committee with any concerns, committee Chairman Kevin Saisi said Tuesday in a news release.

The update has been in development since January 2012. During that time, the committee received input from the public, groups and organizations. That information was used extensively by the committee to develop the updated Rumford Comprehensive Plan.

“One only needs to look at the plan’s vision statement to get a feel of how public input was incorporated into the plan,” Saisi said.

A portion of that vision statement reads, “Most importantly, Rumford will have retained its heritage and the assets people enjoy.

“These include amazing architecture, friendly neighborhoods, outdoor recreation opportunities, a walkable community, excellent municipal services and reasonable cost of living.”

Copies of the draft plan are available at the Town Office and also can be viewed at www.rumfordmaine.net.
