WAYNESVILLE, Mo. — Army Pvt. Thomas E. Begley has graduated from Basic Combat Training at Fort Leonard Wood.

During the nine weeks of training, the soldier received instruction in drill and ceremony, weapons, rifle marksmanship qualification, bayonet combat, chemical warfare, field training and tactical exercises, marches, military courtesy, military justice, physical fitness, first aid, and Army history, traditions and core values.

Begley is the son of Thomas Begley of Beal Street, Norway. He is a 2010 graduate of Oxford Hills High School, South Paris.

COLUMBIA, S.C. — Four area residents have graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson.

Army National Guard Pvt. Bryan M. Henry is the son of Lauralee and Randy Henry of Haleytown Road, Brownfield. He is a 2008 graduate of Fryeburg Academy.

Army National Guard Pvt. Seth J. Eastman is a 2011 graduate of Fryeburg Academy.

Army National Guard Pvt. Sarah J. Colborn is the daughter of William Colborn and stepdaughter of Sheryl Hopkins, both of Churchill Lane, Philadelphia, Pa. She is the sister of Janet Garrett of Bryant Road, Hebron. She is a 2012 graduate of Academy at Palumbo, Philadelphia, Pa.

Army Pvt. Shane W. Hooper is the son of Audrey Hewins of Glen Street, Oxford, and William Hooper of Rainbow Circle, Middleboro, Mass. He is the grandson of Dana Hewins of Tamett Brook Road, Lakeville, Mass. He is a 2012 graduate of Middleboro High School, Massachusetts.

During the nine weeks of training, the soldiers studied the Army mission, history, tradition and core values, physical fitness, and received instruction and practice in basic combat skills, military weapons, chemical warfare and bayonet training, drill and ceremony, marching, rifle marksmanship, armed and unarmed combat, map reading, field tactics, military courtesy, military justice system, basic first aid, foot marches and field training exercises.

SAN ANTONIO, Texas — Air Force Airman Lawrence W. Crosby and Air Force Airman Howard Trudeau graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base.

The airmen completed an intensive, eight-week program that included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness, and basic warfare principles and skills.

Airmen who complete basic training earn four credits toward an associate in applied science degree through the Community College of the Air Force.

Crosby is the son of Lawrence Crosby of South Hobson Street, Harrisburg, Ill., and Jeannette Martin of Plummers Landing Road, Bridgton. He is a 2012 graduate of Harrisburg High School, Ill.

Trudeau is the son of Brian Trudeau of Station Road, Hebron. He is a 2012 graduate of Oxford Hills High School, Norway.
