Negotiations over land for Little League baseball diamonds are continuing between city representatives and officials of the Maine Army National Guard, but the director of the baseball programs says he’s been left in the dark. Edward Spooner, president of the Auburn Suburban Little League, said Thursday he was asked to stay out of negotiations over the parcel of land on Garfield Road by Mayor Harry W. Woodard Jr. and other city officials. “I don’t know as we ever told them to stay out of it, but I feel it’s a city function,” Woodard said. The league’s three diamonds may be out of business within one year. The ball fields are located at what is now the Auburn-Lewiston Municipal Airpark, which borders the Twin Cities airport where land sales have been picking up.
