SABATTUS — Police have charged a 14-year-old Oak Hill Middle School student in connection with the bomb threat that emptied the school Monday afternoon.

Chief Tony Ward said the girl, who is from Wales, was summoned in front of her parents on a misdemeanor charge of filing a false public report or alarm and immediately released to their custody on Wednesday.

A student had reported finding “bomb” written on a bathroom mirror at the middle school at 1:30 p.m.

Police watched surveillance cameras outside the bathroom and interviewed students seen coming and going.

RSU 4 Superintendent Jim Hodgkin said the student had confessed. She’ll face the school board May 8 when the board will consider expulsion.

In the meantime, she won’t be in school, Hodgkin said.

“To have something like this happen on Monday and have the student identified Wednesday morning I think just really shows how seriously we did take this situation,” he said. “Hopefully it’ll make students feel more comfortable and safe at school.”

He was hopeful that police will also identify people responsible for bomb threats at the high school that cleared it on Tuesday morning and earlier this month.
