LEWISTON — Bates sophomore Jack Strain scored his sixth goal of the game with 2:23 left in the third overtime, giving the Bobcats a 13-12 victory over Colby in NESCAC lacrosse action on Wednesday.
Derek Youngman had four goals to lead Colby (6-9). Rob Highland finished with two goals and an assist for Bates (7-6), and Will Gilkeson added a pair of goals.

WATERVILLE — Lindsey McKenna scored with 31.2 seconds left in the fourth overtime session to lift Colby to an 11-10 win over Bates in NESCAC women’s lacrosse action.
McKenna had five goals and one assist to play a part in six of the 11 goals for Colby (11-3). Katharine Eddy added two goals and two assists. Wally Pierce and Blair Shrewsbury had three goals apiece for the Bobcats (7-7).
New England Coll. 13, UMF 9
FARMINGTON — The University of Maine at Farmington women’s lacrosse team saw its 2013 season come to a close with a 13-9 defeat at the hands of New England College, in Wednesday’s North Atlantic Conference Tournament first-round playoff game.
The Pilgrims advance to Saturday’s NAC tourney semifinals against Castleton State.
Emily Bamberger scored five goals and added an assist to pace the Pilgrims (5-13) offensively.
Ayla Allen paced UMaine-Farmington (5-8) with three goals and one assist, while Mara Balboni charted three goals.
