1928 – 2013

LIVERMORE FALLS — Margaret S. Wagner, a resident of Livermore Falls, passed away Wednesday, April 24, at her home, surrounded by her loving family.

She was born October 26, 1928, in Peekskill, N.Y., the daughter of Frank Scarci and Mildred (Parlin) Scarci. She attended school in Mount Vernon and was a 1947 graduate of Livermore Falls High School. Margaret continued her education at Fisher College in Boston, Mass., graduating in 1949 with an associate’s degree.

On May 27, 1950, she married her husband of 62 years, Clayton Wagner, at the First Baptist Church of Livermore Falls. She subsequently obtained her Civil Service Commission in 1949. Margaret worked for several years as a secretary in Boston before she and her husband moved back to Maine, making their home in Dexter where he was employed. They later returned to Livermore Falls in 1957.

She was a member of the Eaton Memorial United Methodist Church in Livermore Falls and served on numerous committees. Margaret also volunteered working on the polls for several years. Her hobbies included knitting, music, dancing, bridge, tennis and walking — but Margaret especially enjoyed her family and living life to the fullest every day. She is survived by her husband, Clayton Wagner of Livermore Falls; her daughter, Susan Wagner of Prospect; her son, Mark Wagner and his wife, Bonita, of Greenville, S.C.; three grandchildren, Adam Hathaway, Griffen and Rileigh Wagner; brother-in-law, Robie Wagner and his wife, Gloria, of Livermore Falls; sisters-in-law, Myra Bailey of Livermore Falls, and Kay Wagner of Gorham; and several nieces and nephews.

Margaret was predeceased by her brothers-in-law, Maurice and Russell Wagner and Nelson Bailey; and sister-in-law, Pat Wagner.
