FARMINGTON — The Beloit Poetry Journal, Farmington Public Library and Literacy Volunteers of Franklin and Somerset Counties celebrated National Poetry Month on William Shakespeare’s 449th birthday Tuesday.

The celebration at the library included a cake, balloons, party hats and poetry. It was hosted by John Rosenwald and Ann Arbor, who shared some poems, including some from Shakespeare’s play “A Midsummer Night’s Dream.” They suggested that the bard still has something to say to all of us, “the lunatic, the lover and the poet,” quoting from the play.

The winners of  LVFSC’s first poetry contest, including Emery Goff, Philip Anthony Hewitt, Leah Kuehn, Isaiah Milliard, Sarah Neal and Sarah K. Ryan, read their winning entries.
