1933 – 2013

WILTON — Myrna Ledger Orff, 79, of Wilton, passed away at her home on April 27, after suffering from Alzheimer’s for many years.

She was born on July 18, 1933, the daughter of Howard F. and Ruth (Gilman) Ledger. Myrna attended Wilton schools, graduating from Wilton Academy in 1951, before attending Husson College in Bangor.

On Oct. 4, 1952, she married Malcolm Orff in Wilton.

Myrna worked for several years at Brookside Filling Station as a secretary and later in the office at Forster Manufacturing in Dryden. In later years, she worked as a volunteer at Franklin Memorial Hospital. She also enjoyed painting, crocheting, making baskets and reading. She was an extremely talented pianist.

Myrna is survived by her husband, Malcolm Orff of Wilton; two daughters, Julia Coville of Wilton and granddaughters, Kathryn Coville of North Andover, Mass., and her daughter, Kaleigh, and Kara Coville of Charleston, S.C., also daughter, Joy Frankio and husband, Phil, of East Sandwich, Mass., and their daughters, Holly Frankio of Charlestown, Mass., and Heather Frankio of California; nephews, Gilbert N. “Gibby” Richards Jr. of Wahiawa, Hawaii, and Gregg Richards of Livermore Falls; nieces, Gaye Ouellette of Jay and Gina Richards of Winthrop; in-laws, Ruel B. Orff Jr. and his wife, Joyce, George and Mary Farnum, Rita Whinery and Helen Toothaker, all of Wilton; her aunt, Brenda Connelly of New Hampshire; and many more nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her parents; and her only sister, Glenda Richards of Livermore, who passed June 12, 2012.

The family is grateful to Glana Roberts for taking on the role of caregiver, which allowed Myrna to remain comfortably at home in her final weeks.
