HAMPTON, Va. — Kevin Mark Prentiss, 52, died Thursday, March 7, at his home with family by his side, due to complications from juvenile diabetes.

Born in 1958, Kevin grew up in the towns of Acton and Maynard, Mass. Summers were spent at the family’s camp at Sabattus Lake, which later became their year-round home.

He enjoyed snowmobiling, boating, swimming and water-skiing. He later moved to Hampton, Va., where he met Janice Hunt. They made a home together and have lived there for the last 28 years.

Kevin will be remembered for his loyalty and putting others before himself. He was always looking for ways to help a friend, neighbor or family member. He loved making a difference, fixing things and building with his hands.

Kevin is survived by his mother, Dorothy Virginia Prentiss; his partner, Janice Hunt; two children, David W. Wilkinson and Jennifer Hunt; his sisters, Susane Boulette and husband, Robert, and Mary DeVries and husband, David; his brothers, Harold Prentiss III, Gregg Prentiss and his partner, Judy Lindfors, and Tim Prentiss; three grandchildren who adored him; along with nephews, nieces, aunts, uncles, extended family members and friends who miss him dearly.

He was predeceased by his father, Harold Prentiss II; brothers, Dana Prentiss and Neil Prentiss; and sister, Dianne Prentiss.
