Hansen was born in Denmark and came to the United States to attend college. She graduated from Loma Linda University in California with a masters in public health and spent many years working at the Poland Spring Health Institute.

Hansen grew up watching her father paint and developed a love of painting later in life after having taken many classes from Barbara Traficonte of Norway and Sissy Ventrone of Auburn. Hansen enjoys working in colored pencil, pastels and is dabbling in oils, from time to time. Her favorite paintings are from Acadia National Park which inspires her to paint bridges and outdoor landscapes from that area, in addition to horses.

Her artwork may be seen at the Western Maine Art Group Gallery, Main Street, Norway and online at www.portraitsofacadia.com.
