Apparently Sen. Susan Collins felt the need to visit a wood-turning factory in Buckfield just before Easter rather than call a meeting of taxpayers to discuss gun control.

Despite her oath to uphold the U.S. Constitution, she went back to Washington and voted for gun control, even while remaining “seriously concerned” about the Islamist attacks on this country (Sun Journal, April 28).

In the same article, Sen. Angus King laments the weakening of the U.S. military, while Rep. Michael Michaud goes on about his support for federal grants to help law enforcement obtain military equipment and bullet-proof vests.

Sounds like preparations for war.

Never in my 76 years have I ever heard of such a thing.

Taken together, these statements leave me wondering just who these three individuals work for. Perhaps they should be put on notice to do their jobs or face a recall.

It is only by the actions of the National Rifle Association that the public still has its guns.

At least there are some people in this country who still believe in the Constitution and all it stands for.
