Cash raffle benefits library
LIVERMORE FALLS — The Trustees of Treat Memorial Library are excited to offer a new raffle where participants can win cash. Every day in June a ticket will be drawn for cash prizes in amounts from $5 to $100.
Tickets are now on sale for $5 each or three for $10 and are available at the library, Bailey Bros. and from the trustees. Tickets will be on sale through History Night in Livermore Falls, May 24.
The library now offers fax service at a cost of $1 for the first page and 50 cents for each additional page.
Story Time is being held in the Auditorium (downstairs) on Wednesdays at 10:30 a.m. for preschoolers and on Saturdays at 10:30 a.m. for the entire family.
The Knit/Crochet Group continues to meet at 5:30 p.m. on the fourth Tuesday of every month, unless there is a holiday, which there is in May. Let the library staff know if you would like to meet every week.

Tri Town Seniors to meet May 6
LIVERMORE FALLS — The Tri Town Seniors met on April 29 at Murray Hall with 22 members present.
President Fernande Doiron opened the meeting and announced that Alice DeMoras and Doris Wilson are both scheduled for surgeries; members wish them a speedy recovery. Treasurer Gail Laverdiere was given a card signed by all present in honor of her and her husband’s 50th wedding anniversary on April 29.
Beano will be enjoyed May 6, and a Chinese auction will be held on May 13, followed by the yearly picnic/barbecue on May 20. Members are urged to sign up with Pat Laverdiere immediately to let her know what you would like to bring for the picnic.
At the May 6 meeting the group will celebrate the May birthdays with cake and ice cream.
Root beer floats were served at the April 29 meeting; the items were brought by Aurelien Couture, Diane Getz and Marilyn DeSoto.
The 50/50 was won by George Doiron. A Chinese auction was held following the meeting, then members enjoyed cards and games.

Sunset paddle on Lower Sandy
FARMINGTON — On Wednesday, May 8, UMF Mainely Outdoors will hold a sunset paddle on the Lower Sandy River, with put in at Fairbanks Ball Field and take out at the flats in Farmington. Time on the river will be about an hour. The event is open to the public.
Participants should meet at the Fitness & Recreation Center at 5:15 p.m. Register by noon Wednesday, May 8.

Rumford quilters to meet May 9
RUMFORD — RAQ (Rumford Area Quilters) will meet at 1 p.m. Thursday, May 9, at the Rumford United Methodist Church, Linnell Street. All area quilters are invited.
An air compressor will be available for those who want to bring their sewing machine to be cleaned. Anyone who has a “landscape” quilt hanging is asked to bring it for show and tell. Quilt donations for various organizations accepted. For more information call 562-7050.
Community rummage sale
WILTON — A community rummage sale will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday, May 10, and from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, May 11, at the First Congregational Church on Main Street.
Gently recycled goods are available providing fabulous bargains. Clean used clothing and household items in good repair may be purchased by donations.

Irish Pub Night at UMF May 11
FARMINGTON — Irish Pub Night with the Press Gang Band will be held at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, May 11, at UMF Emery Performance Space.

LIVERMORE FALLS — A free community lunch will take place from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, May 11, at the American Legion Hall, 17 Reynolds Ave.

Big book sale set for May 11
WILTON — A book sale to benefit the Wilton Free Public Library will take place from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, May 11, at Western Maine Enterprises, 128 Weld St.
The big sale includes something for everyone: books for all ages, best-selling authors in hard cover and paperback, classics, nonfiction covering a broad range of subjects, plus audio books, videos and DVDs.

‘Storytelling Sampler’ brunch
STRATTON — The Diamond Corner Bed and Breakfast will offer a special “Storytelling Sampler” brunch on May 11 beginning at 10 a.m. Breakfast breads, ginger breads, mini quiche and fresh fruit will be served, plus coffee, tea and orange juice. The cost is $20 per person or $30 for two people.
The brunch is a fundraiser for the Western Maine Storytelling Festival. Members of the Western Maine Storytelling Guild will provide entertainment during the brunch with a sampler of stories.
The festival, scheduled for July 19-21 in Farmington, will include evening performances by Joseph Bruchac and Susan “Ida LeClair” Poulin, a workshop, free events and more. Details are available at WesternMaineStorytelling.org.

Vendors sought for logging festival
RANGELEY — The 33rd annual Rangeley Logging Festival & Parade is scheduled for Saturday, July 27. Organizers are accepting applications for vendors for this highly-anticipated and well-attended event.
Items for sale must be original work, no resale items: art, crafts, homemade foods/preserves and woodworkers are encouraged to apply.
Spaces are 10 by 10 plus elbowroom for $25 per space. There are limited spaces available with electricity for $35, so reserve early. Setup starts at 7:30 a.m. and hours are 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. There is no rain date for this event.
