JAY — Francis “Red” Therrien celebrated his 90th birthday with his wife, Lou, at an open house at the Jay VFW on April 28. It was given by their children, Craig Therrien and Brenda Roy, along with their families.
More than 100 friends and family members celebrated Therrien’s life. Cards and birthday wishes included a letter from Rep. Michael Michaud, delivered and read by Matt Dubois, stating, “It is only fitting that today’s celebration is being held at VFW Post 3335, where you have been an active member since 1946. You have served your country and your community with honor, and your civic dedication is a model for others.”
An avid golfer, Therrien was presented with a plaque by Jane Woolford commemorating his 2008 hole in one. By special request from Therrien, Don LeSeur entertained all by singing “Old Man River” accompanied by Alan Hutchinson on keyboard. Memories were shared by several including Color Guard stories by Roland Therrien and Don LeSeur.
Refreshments prepared by Lynn Dunton and members of the Ladies Auxiliary were enjoyed.
