Invasive land plants forum

WILTON — The Wilton Conservation Commission is sponsoring a public forum to help residents of the greater Wilton area learn about invasive terrestrial (land) plant species.

Ann Gibbs, state horticulturist for Maine Department of Agriculture, Conservation and Forestry, will facilitate the meeting on Monday, May 13, at 6:30 p.m. at the Wilton Town Office Building on Route 156, Weld Road.

The purpose of the forum is to show land owners how to identify invasive non-native terrestrial plants common to the local area. This region currently has a number of invasive species of terrestrial plants that threaten many native species. This workshop is an opportunity to learn what they are and how to control their spread into gardens, woodlands and other properties.
