FARMINGTON — An Industry man sought by police last week was found at a home in New Sharon on Saturday and arrested on felony charges of aggravated assault and burglary and a charge of violation of condition of release.

Farmington Police Department asked for the public’s help in locating Simeon J. Roberts, 20, of Industry last week.

Roberts entered an apartment April 30 on Perham Street in Farmington with a stick and started beating on the occupant, Deputy Chief Shane Cote said.

He was charged with burglary after entering the home with the intent to commit a crime, Cote said.

According to court records, the man received about a half-dozen head wounds. He told police that a man, whom he identified as Roberts, entered his third-floor apartment about 3:30 a.m., holding something behind his back. The man started hitting him with the 20-inch-long stick that was more than an inch thick.

He was able to get hold of Roberts and push him out the door. A roommate came to his aid and also fought with Roberts on the stairs.

He identified Roberts as the man based on pictures on a mutual friend’s Facebook page, according to court records.

The victim tried to find Roberts and settle things before he reported the incident to Farmington police Officer Daryn Gilbert about 5 p.m. Tuesday.

Police were unable to locate Roberts until Saturday, when Franklin County Deputy Nicholas Zecher and Cpl. Nathan Bean went to a home on Beans Corner Road in New Sharon to talk with a friend of Roberts. The homeowner let the officers search the home, where they found Roberts sleeping and arrested him.

Roberts went to court Monday, where bail was set at $250 cash and a Maine pretrial contract, according to an officer at Franklin County Detention Center, where Roberts remained late Monday afternoon.
