The Franco-American Collection at the University of Southern Maine’s Lewiston-Auburn College will host a French sing-along session from 1:15 to 2:15 p.m. Wednesday, May 15, in room 170 of USM LAC’s campus at 51Westminster St. This month’s event will feature songs pertaining to mothers in addition to the usual mix of traditional French and French-Canadian tunes. The session is led by a group of enthusiastic local volunteers. Song sheets will be provided, so those whose French is less than fluent are welcome. Attendees are advised to use the main Atrium Gallery entrance, since the Westminster Street entrance is closed for renovations. Admission is free and no reservations are required. Donations are welcomed. For more information, contact Collection Coordinator James Myall at [email protected] or 753-6545. More information about the collection can be found at www.usm.maine.edu/franco. Sing-along leaders at April’s session at the D’Youville Pavilion at St. Mary’s Health Center in Lewiston were, from left, Irene Coady, Jeannine Doucette, Jeannette Gregoire at piano, Aliette Couturier, Jacynthe Jacques, Irene Mercier and Helene Sylvain.
