RUMFORD — The Mountain Valley High School Athletic Boosters, along with the Class of 2011 Alumni, are holding a day of fun and activity for all ages. The event will be at Hosmer Field on Saturday, May 18, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. The proceeds of the day will benefit the Danny Garneau Scholarship fund.
During the Cow Drop Bingo game, the field will be marked with seven-foot squares. Tickets for a specific square can be purchased for $10. A live cow will graze in the field until it “drops” on a specific square. The holder of the specific ticket will win half of the proceeds from the ticket sale, which could have the potential of reaching approximately $4,000.
Another crowd favorite is the Lucky Duck contest. A numbered duck is picked out of the pond. The lucky person with that number will win half of the proceeds of that contest – up to $750. The “Lucky Duck” tickets are $5 each.
The group has several other activities planned such as a Kids’ Corner with lots of fun games, a bake sale, Chinese auction, and virtual 5K run/walk. The virtual 5K run/walk costs a minimum donation of $10 or $20 with a T-shirt while they last.
Concessions and live entertainment will be available throughout the day, including entertainment by Jamie Virgin, Gary Petrie and Charlie Who.
T-shirts with Danny Garneau Scholarship on the front and sponsors of the event on the back also will be on sale for $15.
To purchase tickets, donate items for the bake sale or Chinese auction, or to donate money for the scholarship, call Leanne at 364-0890 or MVHS at 364-4547.
