FARMINGTON — As part of National Women’s Health Week, May 12-18, Farmington Family Planning will hold a Well-Women Exam and Spa Day on May 14 and 17. Women in the community will be able to schedule a visit that includes pap tests, clinical breast exams, blood pressure and bone density screenings, and enjoy the benefits of Reiki, acupuncture, massage therapy and more.
National Women’s Health Week is a nationwide initiative that calls attention to the importance of women’s health. National Women’s Health Week empowers women to take small, manageable steps for longer, healthier, happier lives. The steps include encouraging women to visit a health care professional to receive regular checkups and preventive screenings; get active; eat healthy; pay attention to their mental health, including managing stress and getting enough sleep; and avoid unhealthy behaviors, such as smoking and not wearing a seat belt or bicycle helmet.
The event is for women age 40 and over who haven’t had a pap test or breast exam in a year or more. Well-Women Exam and Spa Day will be held from 2 to 6 p.m. Tuesday, May 14, and from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Friday, May 17.
