DEAR SUN SPOTS: I am writing for my son who is bipolar and living in his own place now. He has no income and is still waiting on SSI. He has nothing but a radio to keep him company. He has a TV that we gave him, but it doesn’t receive any stations.

If someone has a converter box and antenna that they do not need and are willing to sell for a fair price, we would be grateful. My husband and I are both retired.

I would truly appreciate it very much. It would help our son a lot to try and be independent. — No Name, Auburn

ANSWER: Sun Spots doesn’t know how much entertainment he will get from the TV shows you can receive with an antenna, but at least he will be able to watch  a few things, possibly including public television and the news.

However, what might be even more helpful would be a DVD player or VCR and a library card. That way he could borrow movies and documentaries from the library, as well as take out books to read, of course.

Also, you can play CDs in a DVD player, which would also allow him to listen to music. Music CDs are also available at the library.

You can buy a DVD player for about $50. Perhaps a reader will have a used one they would be willing to sell for less.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: Will the person who took the free item on Foch Street on May 7 please return the rolling cart that was holding it? The item was free, not the cart. Thank you. — Bob, Lewiston

DEAR SUN SPOTS: Does anyone know where I can order some chicken soup with capeletti noodles filled with various meats and cheeses? When I lived in Connecticut, an Italian aunt made it. It was scrumptious.

I would either like to have it at a restaurant or preprepared or frozen. I probably would not make it, because if I remember you need a special tools and a lot of ingredients. I live alone so would prefer to purchase it.

I thank everyone who has helped me in past requests. Thank you. — Debbie, debrod@roadrunner.com

TO THE 83-YEAR-OLD WOMAN WHO FEARS HER NEIGHBORS: Sun Spots fervently wishes you had provided your name or some way for her to contact you, so she could have notified the police. Unfortunately, that was not the case, but she cannot ignore your letter.

Please, call the police. They can get you the help you need. Another source for help is the sexual assault hotline provided by REACH. They have counselors you can talk to and who will help you figure out what to do.

Counselors are available 24 hours per day. When you call, an operator will answer and ask you for your phone number and name (you can give either just your first name or make up a name). She will then notify the counselor on call, who will call you back very quickly. You can explain to her what is going on and she will help you figure out what to do.

Everything is voluntary. The only thing you need to provide is a phone number so they can call you back.

The number is 800-871-7741. Please call them or 911 right away.

This applies to anyone who has been a victim of sexual assault or abuse.
