The newly imported trolley-car sprinkler of the L. A. & W. street railway was tested Monday afternoon. The tank, which has a capacity of 700 gallons, not large enough for this town, was filled, a crew drafted and a maiden voyage commenced. A route for every day and every morning of the day is the program. The sections of Lewiston which can, will be reached by the trolley car. It squirts clear to the sidewalk and then some. The car is furnished by the American Sprinkler Car Company, and while no disparagement of the ability of this Worcester firm is intended, a citizen says he likes the one which does Auburn just a little better. When the corner of Lisbon and Main streets was reached the second time, the tank was nearly empty.

Stanley G. Snow of Auburn, president of Snow’s Inc., announced yesterday the purchase of slightly more than 80,000 square feet of land on Center Street from the Franklin Co. as the site for a future retail appliance establishment and an eight-bay automobile service center. The proposed new store, the fourth local branch of Snow’s Inc., will have 22,000 square feet of floor space but snow said he does not plan an immediate start on construction. The land has a frontage of 250 feet on Center Street and a depth of 300 feet. The lot is located between the Tek Bearing Co. Inc., at 138 Center St., and the Sunoco gasoline station at 166 Center St. A proposed 50-foot street runs along the property line.
