LEWISTON — The monthly luncheon for National Active and Retired Federal Employees Chapter 180 will be held at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 28, at the Ramada Inn.

A social half hour will be followed by a pot roast meal at noon.

Kay Rand, chief of staff to Sen. Angus King Jr., will speak, accompanied by the senator’s regional representative, Ben Tucker. Topics will include Social Security, Medicare, minimum wage increases and the loss of interest income due to low interest rates imposed by the Federal Reserve.

Rand is a native of Aroostook County and resides in Hallowell and Washington, D.C.

She managed the King for U.S. Senate Campaign and previously was the managing consultant at Bernstein Shur Government Solutions. Rand was also chief of staff to Gov. King from 1995 to 2003 and managed his first campaign for governor in 1994.

She also served as deputy commissioner for economic and community development in the McKernan Administration and worked for the Maine Municipal Association for 12 years, primarily as their lobbyist.

The meeting is open to all active and retired federal employees, their families and friends.
