Memorial Day is sermon topic

NORWAY — First Unitarian Universalist Church minister, the Rev. Fayre Stephenson, will present a service, “Memorial Days Past & Present” at 11 a.m. Sunday, May 26.

The church is located at 479 Main St. Child care is provided and a social hour follows the service.

May graduate to lead worship

NORWAY — The members and friends of the Second Congregational Church, UCC, announce that Earl Rogers will lead worship at 10 a.m. Sunday, May 26. Rogers, a May  graduate of Andover Newton Theological School, earned his masters of divinity.

Son of Darlene and Les Rogers of South Paris, he is a member of the Second Congregational Church, UCC. He attended church school and participated in youth group, church band and choir. He attended Pilgrim Lodge and in 2005 represented the Second Congregational Church at the General Synod of the United Church of Christ.

A 2006 graduate of Oxford Hills Comprehensive High School, Rogers received a bachelor of arts degree in religious studies with a minor in French from Juniata College, Huntingdon, Pa., in 2010.

Rogers is in discernment process with the Oxford-Union Association of the Maine Conference, UCC. This summer, he is serving as the interim systems administrator of Andover Newton Theological School.

Concert, supper, hymn sing at church

SUMNER — The Rev. Howard MacMullen invites the public to a Saturday, June 1, Christian concert at the Congregational Church of East Sumner. The church will host, for a second year, the East Wind Gospel Singers at 4 p.m. in the sanctuary. Donations will be accepted. At 5:30 p.m. the monthly  First Saturday Community Supper will be offered with meat loaf, mashed potatoes, coleslaw and dessert. There will be raffle items available. The evening will end with the annual Vernon Bradeen Hymn Sing.

Braestrup to be guest at church

NORWAY — The First Unitarian Universalist Church of Norway, at 11 a.m. Sunday, June 2, will welcome the Rev. Kate Braestrup, a community minister, law enforcement chaplain and the author of a memoir, “Here If You Need Me, Marriage and Other Acts of Charity and Beginner’s Grace: Bringing Prayer to Life.”
