DEAR SUN SPOTS: What would we do without you? You’ve helped us so much before, so I am back with a couple of requests.

First, where can one buy DonnKenny pants for women’s/misses, which for years were available through the JC Penney catalog? These are pull-on and made from synthetic material.

Second, is there someone locally who can be hired to go into a house and remove the remaining contents after the owners have moved and prior to the house being put up for sale?

Thanks again for the service you provide. — No Name, Auburn

ANSWER: Sun Spots search turned up DonnKenny pants at Old Pueblo Traders, oldpueblotraders.blair.com. They have a catalog, so if you don’t want to order online, you can contact customer service at 800-362-8410 from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. to request a catalog.

As for your second query, Sun Spots cannot think of any group that does house clearing, but perhaps someone will write in.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: Thank you for providing us with space in your paper to get the information we need. Where can I get a box of personal papers shredded? Is there a charge for this service, and what guarantee do I have that they will be shredded?

It would take me a long time to shred each paper with my small shredder that only takes a few sheets at one time. — Connie Lecompte,  conikelec@myfairpoint.net

ANSWER: You just missed the free shredding day at Community Credit Union. It was in April. There is a commercial operation, Security Shredding on Route 202 in Greene, 946-2319, that can help you.

HI MS. SUN SPOTS: Thank you so much for your column and the service it brings to your readers. It has been so helpful to our group in the past. I’m writing for the River Valley Animal Advocates. We work in 14 towns between Andover and Canton.

Our major focus is to help cats in our area to be spayed/ neutered and have rabies shots. Since our beginning in early 2010 we have been able to help more than 400 cats to be sterilized and have shots. 221 of them were females that could have produced thousands of potentially homeless kittens every year of their lives. We also do trap-neuter-return with feral and colony cats.

We are planning our annual plant and bake sale with raffle items on June 1 and 2 (rain dates June 8 and 9) between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. We will be holding the sale at the lot next to Riverside Realty on Route 2 in Mexico.

We would very much appreciate any donations of raffle items, baked goods or plants. We can pickup donations and dig plants if anyone has extras.

This fundraiser is to fund our spay/neuter projects in 2013. I can be reached at 597-2323 or email mcdonald6498@roadrunner.com or Valerie 364-3796. Thank you so much. — Becky McDonald, president
