PARIS — For more than 40 years Celebration Barn has attracted theater artists from around the globe to South Paris to study and create original theater.

This summer Celebration Barn is focusing on area youth by introducing a week of classes dedicated to young performers ages 6 to 12. Celebration Barn’s summer youth classes will take place July 1 to 5. Ages 6 to 8 will meet daily from 10 to 11 a.m. and ages 9 to 12 will meet from 1 to 3 p.m.

The teaching staff is made up of professional artists and includes international mime-dance artist Karen Montanaro, filmmaker and performer Leland Faulkner, Figures of Speech Theatre puppeteer Ian Bannon, circus artist Fred Garbo and Celebration Barn’s director Amanda Huotari.

Huotari said, “As a South Paris native, I was first introduced to Celebration Barn when a teaching artist visited my sixth-grade class at the Guy E. Rowe School. I know first hand the power that exposure to the arts can have at that age. I look forward to sharing that magic with a new generation of young people right here at home.”

While there are fees to participate, some financial assistance is available thanks to an anonymous local sponsor. Space is limited and early registration is recommended. To learn more, visit www.CelebrationBarn.com or call 743-8452.
