1926 – 2013

AUBURN —  Dominique N. Dick, 86, of Auburn, died Friday, June 7, at Clover Manor Health Care Facility, with his family by his side, following a long illness.

He was born in Lisbon, on July 2, 1926, the son of the late Joseph and Alma (Tetreault) Dick and had been a resident of this community all of his life. He was educated in Lisbon schools and went on to serve his country with the U.S. Navy in World War II and in Korea.

He was employed at Bath Iron Works and was a bartender at the United Social Club. He was also the manager and owner of the ACME Snowshoe Club for 24 years.

On March 24, 1973, he married his soulmate, Rita I. Lafrance. They were married for 40 years and had one daughter, Jennifer. He was a member of the American Legion Post 158 in Lisbon and also the VFW Post 9459 in Lisbon.

In his younger days, Dominique was a boxer, weightlifter and studied Judo. He kept fit by being an active jogger. He loved watching baseball and was a Red Sox fan. Dominique will be remembered for his humor, compassion and good nature. He brought laughter to any situation.

He is survived by his wife, Rita, of Auburn; one daughter, Jennifer Parent and her husband, Nate, of Portland; one sister, Jackie Davis of Lewiston; his Godson, Michael Lessard and his family of Lewiston; his inlaws, Pauline and Eddy Lafrance of Sabattus; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

He was predeceased by his parents; and by his sister, Pauline Lessard and her husband, Harvey.
