A.C. Martin of Auburn has completed the work of taking the school census of the Auburn schools. The total number of pupils in 1913 shows a gain of 155 over the 4,684 in 1912. The largest gain is in Ward 2. In 1912 that ward had 609 and this year the number has taken a jump to 673, a gain of 64. This increase is not so large in all of the wards, however. In Ward 1 only eight have been added but in each of the other wards the increase is more than 20.

Fill and rock from excavations being made on the Center Street reconstruction project are being dumped off Route 4, the Turner road, on the south end of the causeway at Lake Auburn, to create a boat landing and launching site. The agreement for the contractor to provide this fill from the work site is a part of the contract for the job. Eventually, this small inlet will be filled in almost completely to create the launching area.

Not only has Monday night’s meeting of the Leeds Planning Board been moved to Leeds Central School to accommodate expected crowds, but the meeting will also be extended for a second session on Tuesday night. The heightened attendance is anticipated because of resident concerns which surfaced at a recent informational meeting over plans by Blue Rock Industries to conduct mineral exploration.
