CARTHAGE — New England Celtic Arts in collaboration with Music New Brunswick will present Les Hay Babies at North New Portland Community Church on Sunday, June 23; at St. Keirans Art Center on Monday June 24; at Deertrees Theatre on Tuesday, June 25; at Skye Theatre Performing Arts Center on Wednesday, June 26; and at St. Lawrence Arts on Thursday, June 27. Curtain is 7 p.m. except at Deertrees which opens at 7:30 p.m.

The fresh-faced Les Hay Babies are just 19 to 21 years old, but one listen to any of their songs, and you’ll hear that they are old souls, too.

The indie-folk trio hail from three small Acadian villages in New Brunswick. Julie Aubé, Katrine Noël and Vivianne Roy met during a provincial battle of the bands where they were each performing as solo artists. Then they ran into each other at another music contest and realized how well their unique voices and different musical influences meshed together.

In November 2011, Les Hay Babies were officially born. Since then, they’ve been busy crafting a colorful folksy music with only a guitar, a banjo, a ukulele, powerful lyrics and warm harmonies. July of 2012 saw the release of their first EP, Folio, a bilingual disc featuring six group originals.
