Historical Society annual meeting

FARMINGTON — The Farmington Historical Society will hold its annual meeting on Monday, June 17, at Henderson Memorial Baptist Church.

Grange plans ‘souper’ supper

CHESTERVILLE — The Chesterville Grange will have a public “souper” supper Friday, June 21, serving between 5 and 6:30 p.m.

Lions Club annual sale

WILTON — The Wilton Lions Club will hold their yearly fundraising yard sale on Friday, June 21, through Sunday, June 23.

The hours are Friday and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday from 8 a.m. to noon.

Animal shelter plans yard sale

WILTON — A yard sale to benefit Franklin County Animal Shelter will be held at 9 a.m. Friday and Saturday, June 21 and 22, at Hayden Bros Shoe, Route 2.

Pie On The Porch event is June 22

FARMINGTON — Pie On The Porch will be held from 1 to 5 p.m. Saturday, June 22, at the Old South Church Holman Parish House, 227 Main St., featuring fresh baked pies, Front Porch Cafe’s famous bread pudding, cold beverages and an extensive list of talented local musical entertainment and storytelling mc’d by Christine Poulsen.

The price is $4; ala mode add 50 cents. Take out available. In case of rain, the event will take place at the Old South Church. Proceeds benefit OSC ministries.

Wilton Library book sale

WILTON — A book sale to benefit the Wilton Free Public Library will take place from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, June 22, at Western Maine Enterprises, 128 Weld St.

This is a big sale with something for everyone: books for children and adults and everyone in between, best-selling authors in hard cover and paperback, classics, nonfiction covering a broad range of subjects, plus audio books, videos and DVDs. Pricing is “by donation.”

Summer Fest Dance Party

WILTON — A Summer Fest Dance Party will take place from 7:30 to 10:30 p.m. Friday, June 22, at the East Wilton Grange. Everyone is invited. Cost is $8.

Wilton’s Susan Atwood and Tom Whalen will play a musical mix from the ’50s, ’60s, ’70s and ’80s as well as from the Big Band Era.

Non-alcoholic beverages and other goodies will be available.

Fire Auxiliary plans yard sale

TEMPLE — The Temple Fire Department Auxiliary will hold a community yard sale from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, June 29, at 5 Iisalo Road.

The auxiliary encourages other Temple residents to hold their own yard sales on this day as well. Another option would be to donate clean and usable items to the auxiliary.

Agricultural assistance sign-up

FARMINGTON — The USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service reminds agricultural producers that the sign-up deadline for assistance through the Environmental Quality Incentives Program is July 1.

The general EQIP program offers technical and financial assistance to agricultural producers to implement conservation practices such as grassed waterways and diversion ditches, cover crops, conservation crop rotation and tillage and mulching.

NRCS accepts applications on a continuous basis. However, only applications which are received by July 1 will be considered for general EQIP funding in fiscal year 2014. Applications received after this date will be considered for funding in 2015.

Producers interested in the EQIP Program should come into the USDA Service Center at 107 Park St., Farmington, to complete an application and begin the conservation planning process. For additional program information visit www.me.nrcs.usda.gov.

Healthcare Golf Classic slated

FARMINGTON — Franklin Community Health Network’s annual Healthcare Golf Classic will be a two-day, two-tournament event at the Sugarloaf Golf Club that will take place on July 14 and 15. The beneficiaries will be the Healthy Community Coalition of Greater Franklin County and the Martha B. Webber Breast Care Center. Both provide health services to people in need.

Monday’s tournament is a four-person scramble and anyone is welcome to participate as part of a team or as an individual. Individuals will be assigned to teams needing members.

The festivities will begin with a noontime best ball tournament and reception on Sunday for the tournament’s major sponsors. On Monday, there will be a continental breakfast for all players, followed by 18 holes of tournament play, a luncheon and awards ceremony. Both men’s and women’s first place and runner-up low gross and net scores will be awarded.

“There are still an assortment of sponsorship opportunities for local businesses that wish to participate including team sponsors, breakfast and award sponsors, and hole sponsors,” said Janis Walker, tournament chair.
