DEAR SUN SPOTS: Several years ago I ordered a set of solar lights from QVC and they were great, but QVC no longer has them and one of the tops that has a loop on the top to hang on a hook broke off.

The set of eight can hang or put on a little stand. They have two batteries and give off a lot of light. If anyone has them, I would be willing to pay a reasonable price. If you have any questions, you could call or email me. Thank you so much. — Wanita Wilson, Peru, 562-7806, johnwanita@roadrunner.com

ANSWER: You might be able to find those lights on eBay. It’s astonishing what you can find there, especially if you look regularly, say once a week.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: One of your readers recently expressed interest in finding yellow curtains. Today (Friday, June 14) I stopped at the Big Tent Sale on Route 4 in Turner, just north of the Landmark restaurant, across from the airport, and they had a pile of good-looking, solid-yellow curtains.

Hope this gets into the paper soon enough for her to get them!

Thanks for all, Sun Spots. — Leeds Reader via email

DEAR SUN SPOTS: In response to the grandmother concerned about her overweight son (June 8), many people of all ages are being helped with weight loss by a free online group called Spark People.

There are many resources available, including food and exercise logging, support groups, diet and exercise programs, and informational articles.

They don’t focus primarily on losing weight by dieting but on positive attitude and lifestyle changes. The resources are varied enough so people can tailor their own program to suit their own needs, including health problems that can complicate weight loss.

Where younger children are involved, they encourage parental participation as well. It’s almost like a massive multi-player online game or Facebook for weight loss. Here’s a link for anyone who wants to check it out: www.sparkpeople.com. — Being there, doing that, Rumford

DEAR SUN SPOTS: I have a Hammond organ that is at least 40 years old that I need repaired. It turns on, but there is no sound. I have tried calling around but cannot find anyone. If you could help me, I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you. — Denise Libby, mizzworf@aol.com

ANSWER: The last time Sun Spots had this question she was told that there was really only one person still doing organ repairs: Nick Mamich of Bowdoinham, 837-2196. Sun Spots called him to verify that he is still in business, and he is.
