RUMFORD — A Mass of Christian Burial honoring the life of Chief J. Arthur Boivin was celebrated Friday at Parish of the Holy Savior. Prior to the Mass, Fire Department Honors were rendered at Central Station with a prayer offered by Chief Robert Chase. The Rev. Robert Vaillancourt was the celebrant. Bernard Poirier was the altar server. Mark Belanger was the organist, accompanied by the choir. Music selections were “Wind Beneath My Wings,” “Ave Maria,” “Amazing Grace” and “Fly Like a Bird.” A recording of “J’irai la voir un jour” sung by Arthur was played as he entered the church. The Old Testament was proclaimed by Jeannette Neuman. The New Testament was proclaimed by granddaughter Amanda Boivin. Prayer of the faithful was offered by granddaughter Brittany LaRoche. Offertory gifts were presented by Nicole Baltrus, Danielle Baltrus, Alexis Baltrus, Michelle Holmes and Crystal Holmes. Personal reflections were shared by son Gregory Boivin. Interment was in St. John Cemetery. Pallbearers were Darren Boivin, Gregory Boivin, Derek Batlrus, Mark Boivin, Cody Boivin and Brandon Boivin. A reception served by the Daughters of Isabella was in the parish hall. Fire Department Honor Guard were Ret. Dep. Chief Peter Chase, Ret. Dep. Chief Mark Mayo, Ret. Sr. Capt. Ivan Arsenault, Ret. Sr. Capt. Albert Bradley, Ret. Lt. Nick DeSalle, Ret. Pvt. Robert Bradley and Private Donald Coulombe. Services by SG Thibault Funeral Home.
