LISBON — Robert R. Morency Sr. of Lisbon and Clearwater, Fla., was born Aug. 26, 1931, in Auburn, to Joseph Henry and Valeda Sanborn Morency. He passed peacefully at home on June 19, surrounded by his family.
He was educated in Mechanic Falls. He served in the U.S. Army from 1953 to 1955. He married Claudette Dostie, Nov. 12, 1955. He worked in local shoe shops before and after the Army. He worked for the U.S. Postal Service for 32 years. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Andy Valley Counsel and Assembly. He was a member of Holy Trinity Parish, Lisbon Falls.
Bob was a solid family man, who enjoyed hunting, fishing and ice fishing, gardening, camping, and his beloved Red Sox. He and Claudette traveled by motorhome all over the United States and Canada during his retirement. His dream was to take his wife on a European tour to see the places he’d been while in the Army, which he did in 1982, and again in 2001.
Bob is survived by his wife of 57 years; his four boys, Robert Jr. and wife, Susan, of Freeport, Michael and wife, Mary Ann, of Auburn, Daniel and wife, Karen, of Freeport and Marc and wife, Lynnette, of Lewiston; his seven grandchildren, Jenna Morency Hodges of Old Town, Brian Morency of Lewiston, Deanna Morency of Boston, Mass., Ian Morency of Freeport, Danielle Morency of Freeport, Samantha Morency of Boston, Mass., and Coleman Morency of Lewiston; his one great-grandaughter, Elliana Morency of Newport; his sisters, Laura Beaulieu of Lewiston and Alice Ladd of Waterville; and his brother, Raymond Morency of New Mexico; and several nieces and nephews.
