Gifford’s Ice Cream Captures Championship
Gifford’s 18  Pepsi 0
In Gifford’s first-round game, a combination of strong hitting and strike-zone discipline led to an 18-0 victory over Pepsi. Jacob Schofield and Nick Hathaway were repeat hitters for Gifford’s, with Hathaway legging out a two-run inside the park home run. Gifford’s got a strong start out of Austin Brown who struck out 71/3 innings of work before handing the ball off to Dominic Priola who had a clean inning. Brown helped himself offensively, going 2-for-3 with a triple. Pepsi was kept off balance by Brown, but got its offense rolling with hits from Dylan Selinger and Tyler Jalbert. Pepsi’s Alec Beaudoin made a terrific back-handed play at second base to thwart a Gifford’s rally.
 Gifford’s 5  East Auburn 2
Two days later, Gifford’s took the championship with a 5-2 victory over East Auburn. In a well-played game, both teams got outstanding starts from their pitchers. East Auburn’s Ben Cassidy struck out 13 in 51/3 innings and didn’t allow a hit. Gifford’s Ethan Brown was also dealing as he finished with a complete-game win, striking out 12, walking none, and scattering four hits.
Both pitchers worked out of numerous jams, but Gifford’s got on the board first in the fourth by scoring a run without a hit. Gifford’s would put four more on the board in the fifth. Nick Hathaway slapped a single and the big blow coming off the bat of Ricky Cote, who drove a triple to left-center scoring two.

Cote’s hit would prove to be the game winner as East Auburn refused to go quietly in their half of the sixth. After Mason Aube reached on an error, Giles Paradie smacked his second single of the game. Javon Coney then roped a double to score both runners. Ethan Brown retired the next two batters to secure the championship for the scoopers.
