100 years ago, 1913
In the home of the bride’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Frank A. Rendall of Auburn, Nelson L. B. Page and Miss Helen A. Rendall were married at half after two o’clock Wednesday afternoon. The bride was becomingly gowned in a navy blue suit with blue chiffon waist. Her flowers were white sweet peas. Many and valuable gifts were received by the young people, who are well known and have many friends. The bride was born in Auburn and has always lived here. The bridegroom is a native of Alexandria, Minn., but came to Auburn in 1906, where he has since been in the lumber business. The wedding trip will be a cruise along the Maine coast in Mr. Page’s new cruiser, “Harp.”

50 years ago, 1963
A well-known one-time Lewiston barber and singer returned to the Twin Cities today for a brief vacation. He is Joseph “Pete” Harvey, whose barber shop was for a long while located on Sabattus St., Lewiston, just beyond the junction of Sabattus St. and Campus Ave. For many years he was a principal figure in L’Orpheon, a noted local chorale group which continues to perform. Harvey left the Twin Cities in April of 1962, moving to San Pedro, Calif., where he was born.

25 years ago, 1988
The Androscoggin Valley Amateur Radio Club will participate in the World-wide 1988 Field Day sponsored by the American Radio Relay League for a 24-hour period this Saturday and Sunday at the former East Auburn Ski Run off Route 4, formerly known as the Soucier Farm. There are about 60 local amateur radio operators in the club, and there are approximately 3,000 amateur radio operators in Maine, compared to about one-million nationwide. The purpose of the Field Day is to demonstrate emergency radio communications in a simulated emergency setting. The club will also be receiving and transmitting radio messages from government agencies all over North America during this simulation.
