Marine Corps League meeting

AUBURN — The Marine Corps League, Central Maine Detachment, will meet at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, June 27, at the American Legion Post 31, Washington Street.

With the new Marines that have joined, the group will talk about the rifle squad to be formed to honor fallen comrades.

July 4th Festival on the Green

TURNER — Turner Public Library’s traditional fund-raising July 4th Festival on the Green will celebrate community on Thursday, July 4.

Events will include a 10 a.m. mile-long parade under banners on Main Street (Route 17), strawberry shortcakes, games on the common for children, a huge book sale, bounce house, food and drink, arts and crafts vendors, Turner Historical Museum open house, a pinata and music in the gazebo.

Baked bean, spaghetti supper

DURHAM — The North Pownal United Methodist Church, 851 Lawrence Road, will hold a public baked bean and spaghetti supper from 4:30 to 6 p.m. Saturday, July 6. Tickets are adults $6, children 4-12 years $3, and 3 years and under no charge.

Yard sale, bake sale, lunch

LISBON — Lisbon United Methodist Church will hold a yard sale, bake sale and lunch during the Moxie Days festival on July 13 at 14 School St.

Meal choices are lobster or crab meat rolls, hot dogs, hamburgers, soft drinks, water and cookies.

The lobster and crabmeat rolls along with fried dough and soft drinks will also be available downtown.

To place an order in advance for a lobster and/or crab meat roll, call Trudy Duval at 353-8579. The deadline for early orders is July 8.

Athletics injury prevention

LEWISTON — The care team at St. Mary’s Center for Orthopaedics will hold a free presentation on strength and conditioning from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 16, in the Lepage Large Conference Room, 99 Campus Ave.

Strength and conditioning helps to increase speed, agility and overall power. The presentation will show the role of strength training as a part of total health, training techniques and setting and achieving goals. Leading the program will be Bruce Hamilton-Dick, M.D., and Kelly Hilton, ATC from St. Mary’s Center for Orthopaedics, and Jeff Eckhouse, a personal trainer from Mobile Fitness.
