VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. — Ursula R. Marcotte, 97, widow of Dr. Yvon W. Marcotte, formerly of 18 Novella St., Lewiston, died Wednesday, March 27, at the Our Lady of Perpetual Help Nursing Home.
She was born in Upper Frenchville, Aug. 21, 1915, the daughter of Belone J. and Marie Labrie Roy. She attended Holy Rosary Parochial School in Upper Frenchville and Mount Merici Academy in Waterville.
She was further educated at St. Mary’s General Hospital in Lewiston, where she was employed for five years as a medical technician.
Mrs. Marcotte was a past president and member of the St. Mary’s Hospital Auxiliaries, a life member of the CMMC Hospital Auxiliary, and a past president of the former Lewiston Exchangettes. She was an avid reader, and loved to knit, crochet, needlepoint and play bridge.
Survivors include four children, Una of Virginia Beach, Va., Margaret “Peg” of Bluffton, S.C., Norman and wife, Mimi, of Virginia Beach, Va., and Donald and wife, Cindy, of Bedford, N.Y.; three grandchildren, Kimberly, Robert and Rosemarie Marcotte; two sisters, Almeda Dumais of East Hartford, Conn., and Marie Daigle of South Windsor, Conn.; and several nephews and nieces.
Besides her husband, who passed away Dec. 1, 2009, she was predeceased by six brothers, Albenee, Alfee, Jean Paul, Hercule, Oscar, and Albert; and three sisters, Ann Marie, Priscille, and Lucille. Condolences and a video tribute may be accessed online at www.albert-burpee.com.
