July, August church services

WATERFORD/STONEHAM —  During July and August, church services for the Oxford County United Parish (North Waterford and East Stoneham churches) will be held at the North Waterford Church on Route 35, opposite Melby’s Eatery. Summer services will be held at a new time: 9 a.m.

‘Can Film Festival’ to help food banks

WINTHROP — The “Can Film Festival” will benefit Winthrop area food banks.

The festival is a benefit event sponsored by the ecumenical partnership of Winthrop Center Friends (Quaker) and St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church, both of whom share the Friend’s Meeting House for services.

At 6 p.m. each Friday in July, films will be shown at the Friend’s Meeting House, 219 Winthrop Center Road, Route 135, south. Admission will be canned or boxed goods. Monetary gifts made out to specific food banks will also be welcome.

Area food banks serve approximately 190 families throughout the communities of Winthrop, Wayne, Mt. Vernon, Vienna, Readfield and Fayette. The Winthrop Center Friends Quaker community and St. Andrews Episcopal Church are committed to both global causes and community outreach.

Reeds Mill Church open for summer services

MADRID — Reeds Mill Church, Reeds Mill Road, will open its doors for worship during the summer months on Sunday, July 7. The nondenominational church is open to the public every July and August at 2 p.m. Sundays, with the exception of Aug. 25, which is Old Home Sunday. The worship service that day will be held at 1 p.m. following a potluck picnic at noon.

Camp for kids at Pathway Vineyard Church

LEWISTON — Pathway Vineyard Church, 9 Foss Ross Road, will offer a free week long day camp from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday, July 15 to 19, for grades one to five.

The Kids Unleashed Day Camp will offer kids water slides, inflatables, biblical teachings, field games, archery, animals and more. Lunch and snacks will be provided.

Workshop on shamanism at Pinpoint of Light

HARTFORD — “Shamanism: A Spiritual Tool” will be the topic of a workshop from 12:30 TO 4:30 p.m. Sunday, July 21, at the Pinpoint of Light Spiritualist Camp, 1190 Main St., Hartford Town Hall.

Participants will explore the world of shamanism and its origins, learn about power animals/totems, the realms of Spirit (Upper World, Middle World and Lower World), the symbolism of animals and experience the journey process. It is an experiential workshop.

Time permitting, an introduction to shamanic healing techniques and available resources will be discussed. Facilitators will be the Rev Graham Connolly, NST, Certified Medium, Commissioned Healer, Reiki Master, Shamanic Practitioner (Graduate of Spirit Passage’s) and Sue Jalbert, Commissioned Healer, Reiki II Practitioner, IET Advanced Level.
