LEWISTON — Real O. Fournier, 86, of Lewiston, formerly of 171 Oxford St., died on Tuesday, July 2, at Marshwood Nursing Home with his family at his side.

He was born Oct. 24, 1926, the son of the late Joseph and Rose (Hinse) Fournier. He attended local schools. On July 25, 1964, he married the love of his life, Geraldine Lessard. Together they worked and raised their family in the Lewiston area. Geraldine passed away in 2012.

Real was known as a hard worker and was the owner operator of Fournier’s Junkyard on the River Road in Lewiston, until selling the business in 1990. He was a member of St. Mary’s Parish for many years until its closing.

He then became a member of Prince of Peace Parish and attended Mass at the Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul. He was an active member of several organizations including St. Mary’s Cadets, Lewiston and Holy Cross Senior Citizens, Horizon 55, Covenant 50, Knights of Columbus 106, Pastime Club, 20 M Club, Club Jacques Cartier and Association Canado-Americaine.

Real is survived his daughter, Pamela Fournier of Lewiston; grandchild, Danielle Duval of Lewiston; great-grandchildren, Cami, Adreahnah and Julius Real; nephews, Richard Maheux and Brian Whitten; niece, Terry Kelly; and godchild, Melissa Carpentier-Lagace.

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Geraldine Fournier; his sisters, Rosette Gagne, Adrienne Whitten, Germaine Maheux and Cecile Michaud.
