ORONO — Rolande V. Saucier, 94, formerly of Lewiston, died Monday, July 8, at Orono Commons.
 
She was born in Van Buren, Dec. 19, 1918, the daughter of Marc O. and Marguerite (Ouellette) Bosse. She moved to Lewiston at an early age and graduated from Lewiston High School in 1938. Rolande married Gerald “Gidi” Saucier in April 1942 in East Hartford, Conn., where she had worked at Pratt Whitney in support of the war effort.
 
Upon returning to Lewiston, she devoted her time to being a wife and mother, homemaking at 5 Robert Ave. and summering for 36 years at Tacoma Lake. In addition to working for Casavant Insurance Agency for 18 years, Rolande was a former member of South Maine Insurance Women, Credit Breakfast Club, Holy Family Church, Ladies of St. Ann, St. Mary’s Auxiliary and St. Croix Senior Citizens.
She was very active in volunteering work at the Lewiston-Auburn YMCA, Russell Park Rehabilitation, and Clover Health Care. After moving to Old Town in 2001, she volunteered at The Meadows and was an active member of the Old Town-Orono YMCA and Senior Citizens.
 
Rolande is survived by her son, David and wife, Dorothy, of Old Town; four grandchildren, David Saucier II and wife, Shanna, of Greenbush, Michele Saucier of Hampton, Va., Shaunessy Saucier of Rumford, R.I., and Elizabeth Saucier of Bangor; great-grandchildren, Ivy Cassell, Thorin Saucier and Athena Saucier; sisters, Arlene Johnson and Marguerite Paradis; and brother, Aurele “Kit” Bosse.
 
She was predeceased by her parents; her husband, Gerald; sisters, Renamay Moreau and Doris Michaud; brothers, Rosaire, Gilman and Gustive Bosse; and great-granddaughter, Erika Saucier.
