Alcuin Academy of Lewiston held its first commencement exercises on June 7 for its first graduate, Averie St. Jean of Lisbon. Surrounded by family, friends and underclassmates, Averie was cheered with energetic and congratulatory applause. Led by the military march, “Pomp and Circumstance,” St. Jean approached the podium and received her high school diploma marking four long and challenging years of study and hard work in the classical curriculum. Founded in Lewiston in 2010 with grades seven through 12, Alcuin Academy is an independent, private classical school that teaches in the Roman Catholic tradition.
