LEWISTON — Emil P. Miskovsky, M.D., a board-certified gastroenterologist, has been appointed to the Central Maine Medical Center medical staff. He is practicing with Central Maine Gastroenterology in Lewiston.

Prior to joining the greater Lewiston-Auburn medical community, he practiced in Bennington, Vt., where he was president and owner of Evergreen Gastroenterology. He served on the medical staff at Southwestern Vermont Medical Center.

A graduate of Dartmouth College in Hanover, N.H., he earned his medical degree from Albany Medical College in Albany, N.Y., where he was awarded the Outstanding Senior Medical Student Award. He completed an internal medicine residency and immunology fellowship at Georgetown University Hospital in Washington, D.C., and a three-year fellowship in gastroenterology and hepatology at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore. He later completed studies in molecular immunology and business of medicine at Johns Hopkins School of Medicine in Baltimore.

Miskovsky has extensive experience as a researcher and medical educator. He has been given several teaching awards and has served as reviewer for several medical-surgical professional journals.

He is a member of American Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, American Gastroenterological Association, American Association for the Study of Liver Disease, and American College of Gastroenterology.

He is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine and the American Board of Gastroenterology.
