TEMPLE — Herbert Henry Teel, 71, of Temple, died Tuesday, June 25, at the VA Maine Healthcare Hospice at Togus.
He was born in Boston, Mass., on August 24, 1941, a son of Herbert S. and Anna Karlson Teel.
Herbie attended Pierce Grammar School and Arlington High School. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1959 to 1960.
He did auto body work for several companies for a few years before establishing his own business. He restored antique autos in Rowley, Mass., and also horse-drawn carriages for the Salem Museum in Massachusetts.
In 1989, he moved to Maine and began collecting and restoring antique gasoline engines.
Herbie is survived by his wife of 18 ½ years, Kim (Bicknell) Teel of Temple; two sons, Jonathan S. Teel and wife, Christy, of Newburyport, Mass., and Eric A. Teel and wife, Trisha, of Rowley, Mass.; two grandchildren, Caleb and Charlotte; a sister, Sandra Parson of Moultonborough, N.H.; and two brothers, Rod Teel of North Sandwich, N.H., and Robert Teel of Mt. Vernon.
He was predeceased by his parents, Herbert and Anna Teel of Dryden.
