1925 – 2013

AUBURN Joseph E. “Pete” Sarrazin, 88, of Meadowview in Lewiston, passed away following a short illness on Wednesday, July 10, at The Hospice House in Auburn, with his loving wife and family by his side.

He was born in Greene on May 5, 1925, the son of Arthur and Albina Lamothe Sarrazin.

He was a hardworking man all his life, working at various car dealerships in the parts department. In his younger years he enjoyed rollerskating; this is how he met the love of his life, Lorraine Leclerc, whom he was married to for 67 years. Together they raised three children. As the children were growing up they spent many years at the family camp in Topsfield and camping on Sebago Lake. Pete and Lorraine were fortunate to travel to many places, with his favorite trip being to Hawaii.

Besides his wife of Lewiston, survivors include a son, Roger and his wife Joline, of Sabattus; two daughters, Vicky and her husband, James Bowker, of Lewiston and Gail Sarrazin and her husband, Michael Carter, of Lewiston. He was very proud of his five grandchildren, Lisa and her husband, Robert Bussiere Sr., Cindy and her husband, Scott Pare, Samantha Bowker, Sarah and her husband, William Delgado and Russell Comeau; and great-grandchildren, Tyler Bowker, Robert Bussiere Jr., Casey and Brett Sarrazin, Ryan and Megan Pare and Gus Delgado. His brother, Rosaire; sisters, Theresa St. Hilaire and Florence Sylvester; and many in-laws, cousins, nieces and nephews also survive him.

He grew fond of many friends at Meadowview, including Gail Graham and Mr. and Mrs. Richard Lemay. When he became ill, the support of Betty Swanson, Judy Grivois and Rita Collins was a blessing to him and the family.

He was predeceased by his parents; two brothers, Philip and Paul; and three sisters, Mary Labbe, Lydia Ferland and Laurette McCormick.
The family would like to thank the staff at The Hospice House for the exceptional care and kindness they gave to him in his final days.
