LEWISTON — Ryan Riordan’s two-out single to center field in the bottom of the eighth scored Gage Cote with the winning run as Pastime Club completed a sweep of Tri-Town by the narrowest of margins, 6-5 and 3-2.
Pastime won the first game thanks to a three-hit complete game by Corbin Hyde, who struck out 13, walked just one and didn’t allow an earned run. Hyde also had a pair of hits, as did Alex Small, while Luke Cote scored twice for Pastime (13-3). Zak Johnson pitched well for Tri-Town, scattering eight hits and one walk while fanning four.
Tri-Town jumped out to leads of 2-0 and 5-3 in the second game, but Pastime rallied to take the lead both times before the late-game dramatics. Billy Bickford had three hits and Kaleb Bridgham two hits, including a double, to lead Tri-Town. Riordan collected three hits while Small and both Cotes picked up two apiece for Pastime.
Windham sweeps Andy Valley
WINDHAM — Calvin Field lashed out five hits, including two doubles, and six Windham pitchers combined to keep Andy Valley off the scoreboard to give the Merchants a Zone 3 American Legion baseball doubleheader sweep Saturday by identical 7-0 scores.
Shawn Francoeur, Sam Pattee and Tanner Laberge collaborated on a seven-hit shutout in the opener. Three hits by Laberge and two each by Field and Andrew Whiting led Windham (14-2) offensively.
Quinn Fogarty and Tyler Hutchinson performed the pitching duties for Andy Valley. In the second game, Dennis Meehan delivered four hits and worked the first five innings on the hill. Spencer Hodge and Nate Boyle polished off the three-hitter. Field added three hits and Alex Loftus two for Windham. Andy Valley (1-12) starter Mitchel Davis worked four innings before handing over to Josh Daigle.
Bessey Motors takes two on road
TOPSHAM — Nick Bowie had a big day at the plate, collecting two hits on each end of a doubleheader to lead Bessey Motors to a sweep of Highland Green, 17-0 and 7-3.
Bowie cracked a double and triple and drove in five runs in the opener. Nick Beauchesne added to Bessey’s 15-hit attack with two doubles, while Attaliades-Ryan also had two hits. Riley Chickering allowed two hits and three walks while fanning six in five innings.
In game two, Chickering’s two-run double in the sixth helped Bessey (10-3) pull away from a 4-3 lead. Again, Bowie and Attaliades-Ryan led the offense with two hits apiece. Brnadon Campbell pick up the win with six solid innings on the mound. Tory Charnock led Highland Green (5-8) with two hits.
