JAY — Local and state police are investigating the death of a local man whose body was found in woods behind Spruce Mountain High School early Tuesday morning, hours after he was reported missing.
Although the man’s immediate family was notified, further information will not be released until Wednesday, police said.
Jay police received a report of a missing person early Monday night and officers had been on the lookout for him, police Chief Larry White Sr. said Tuesday. Maine wardens were called to assist Jay Detective Richard Caton IV and other Jay officers in the search. Maine State Police were called at around daybreak, when the body was found, White said. The man’s age was estimated at 27 years old.
